I’m getting reports from Technicians using Mobile Edge (Astea Mobile), on Android devices with 0s 16, unable to select Astea Mobile from Play Store and getting message “This app isn't available for your device because it was made for an older version of Android”

Has anyone else encountered this problem, or know of a solution? I have submitted a case (CS0449515) with Support.

Hi Kyle,
We tested on a Pixel 7a, Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and on a Samsung Galaxy S25+ (all of these devices are on Android 16) and were unable to recreate the issue on any of those devices...even after installing all of the latest Software Updates and rebooting the phones.  So...to all of our other customers out there...do you have any users experiencing this issue?  If so, what device make/model/OS versions do you have that are experiencing the issue?
Thanks,
Reid

Hello Reid,

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE phones are having the issue. OS is Android version 16.

Best,

Jonathan

Hi Jonathan,
Your screenshot shows Android 14 but your comment says Android 16...are you not able to download/install the Astea Mobile Native App on the Android 14 device?

(Android 16 is not supported at this time)
Thanks,
Reid

Can you have one of the impacted users try the following steps to see if it helps?  It might be an issue with the Play Store cache:

Thanks,
Reid

We have two reports now for users that experienced the issue previously (but now when they go to the Play Store it downloads successfully without updating any OS or Play Store updates on the device), so this may be an issue on the Google side…
Thanks,
Reid

Hello Reid,

The affected technicians were on Android version 14 with security patch level March 1st, 2025. The devices are now updated to Android version 16 with google play system update May 1, 2025, and security patch level of August 1, 2025. The mobile app can now be downloaded.

Best,

Jonathan Brooks

The R&D team is still working on this issue (in addition to upgrading our own code there are several plugins that need to be upgraded or rewritten as well).  The tentative ETA for completion is March (end of Q1).  Impacted users can side-load the APK file as a workaround in the meantime.
Thanks,
Reid

Quick update: The R&D team continues to work on this escalated issue and has been making good progress.  The tentative ETA for completion has now been moved up to mid-February.  I will provide additional updates as they become available, thanks.
Reid

Quick update on this: The V3.3.10 version of the Astea Mobile Android Native App is currently being released to the Google Play Store (NOTE: this is done as a progressive rollout and usually takes between 2-5 days for it to appear on all devices).
Thanks,
Reid
