Hi, we use V15.4.

Occasionally, we have users that accidentally create duplicate Installed Items and by the time we discover the duplication, both versions have history.

Is there any way we could link or combine these installed items into just one, without losing the history of either?

Thanks, Chris

Hi Chris,

There is not a process within the application to combine two items’ histories into a single item history or link into another item unfortunately.

This is is not as simple as say merging the item change logs but also there are service orders for item that also need ‘adjusting’, perhaps customer contracts objects of service, etc.

The closest you could come is change the serial number of one item so that it is very similar to the other item, e.g. sn Phil001, Phil001-1.  However, they still would be treated as distinct items in the application.

Thanks Phil, we will follow your suggestion but set something like DUPE-Phil001, so users know (after we tell them) that it is just there for history info.
