Hi

Question from our users: is it OK to set the e-mail field for contacts to being non-mandatory (with Customizer)? Or is there a setting for this?

If this has to be mandatory - what about contacts without e-mail addresses upgraded from v12.5 - will they cause problems?

Hi Bjorn,

I can now confirm this was something that has been changed to prevent the email address being mandatory in V15.2 HF2.

This validation will be removed once you update to a later version which I already confirmed is the case with V15.2 HF4 and also V15.4.

There are no options to manage this validation on/off unfortunately.

Contact details do not require an email address - we need to look to see why it is doing this on your environment.  It should be possible to create contacts without email addresses (at least in standard).

Also, just to let you know, the email address has to be unique and cannot be assigned to multiple entities.  This is changed in v15.4 where the email address does not need to be unique any longer per the What’s New document.
