Question from customer:

Currently in service order Astea is rounding costs for every activity and summing rounded costs. For example, two technicians went to repair for 1:25 hour each. 1:25h is 1,41666666666 but Astea is counting 1:25 as 1,42.

Calculation from financial tab Astea: 1,42 * 65 + 1,42 * 65 = 184,60 zl.

It should be with rounding cost only on final summary.

1,4166666666666 * 65 + 1,41666666666 * 65 = 184, 1666667 = 184, 17184,17.

Hi Zahid,

This is a standard behaviour. Every cost is returned by the system as rounded, and not the total cost only.

Please inform this to customer.

Kind Regards,

Eisha

Just a little more to add to Eisha’s comments.  All transactions are rounded at the transaction level because they are separate records in the database.  If someone were to credit one transaction it could show a disparity between the amount for the remaining transaction.  Because of the rounding issue, many organizations will charge time to the nearest 6 or 15 minutes because these never cause any rounding issues.   6 minutes rounds to .10 of an hour, and 15 minutes rounds to .25 of an hour.  Lawyers typically charge by the 6 minute increment, while it is more common for service work to be charged by the 15 minute increment.  An organization could also charge in 3 minute increments, but I have never come across such a case.
