Hello everyone,
I am currently working on a project to develop custom connectors for our organization to analyze and retrieve data from IFS. The functionality is comparable to solutions like Addovation, particularly in enabling the execution of Quick Reports. So far, the connectors have been performing reliably and meeting all intended requirements.
As part of this initiative, I have developed two separate connectors:
-
A Power BI connector that allows users to pull data directly from IFS and build dashboards within Power BI
-
An Excel add-in connector that enables users to retrieve and work with the IFS data in Excel
At this stage, I am looking to better understand the broader implications of maintaining custom connectors at an organizational level. Specifically, I am interested in insights related to API usage, rate limits, performance considerations, governance, security, and long-term maintenance.
The solution has been built entirely from scratch, so there are currently no licensing or overhead costs involved. I welcome any constructive feedback, critiques, or questions—especially from those who have implemented similar solutions or scaled them across teams.
Any insights or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated alongside any recommended upgrades.
Thank you,
Sid
