  1. It is possible to do direct upgrade from IFS7.5 to IFS10.
  2. If the answer is no, what is the recommended path…..like IFS7.5 to ISF8 and then from IFS8 to IFS10 etc.

Hi,

Adding to your post,IFS8 to IFS9 and then IFS10.

@ANMASL Being in IFS7.5, you can directly order IFS10.

When upgrading, anyway the changes of App8, APP9 and App10 will be included in your solution.

This varies from one client environment to another. I worked on couple of projects and they were direct 7.5 to 10 upgrade. If the client has a complex setup with lot of customizations, then IFS may recommend a full re-implementation.

Your next steps will involve reaching out to IFS Support for an upgrade assessment of the environment.

Good luck!

Is there any tool available for upgrade from 7.5 to 10?

NO, only IFS Support can assist you in assessing and creating an Upgrade Build required for the upgrade. This can be done through an upgrade process not any tool.

@ANMASL  As I have mentioned above, you can order a direct upgrade from IFS7.5 to IFS10.

By reaching the IFS Global Consulting organization, you can get an estimate for the complete upgrade and after the estimate they will let you know whether to go for a reimplementation or a direct upgrade.

That is depending on the impact of the customizations and extensions in customer solution, on the IFS core applications’ changes over the versions.

For analyzing the impact, we have a tool called “Update Analyzer”, but that supports only from APP9 onwards.

From the following link you can access it.

https://developer.ifs.com/tools/updanalyzer

For analyzing the versions prior to App 9, the Global Consulting Organization uses another methodology.

Therefore, the best is to contact the IFS Global Consulting Organization on this matter since you need it from IFS7.5

Hope this helps to clarify the doubts.

@ANMASL , We upgraded from App75 to App10 UPD5 last year. We are a business that relies heavily on external integrations, customizations and configurations. However we might not be as complex as @Srikanth mentions above, otherwise IFS would have recommended us to go for a reimplementation. Also my Project Manager informs me that what happens in reality was that the upgrade was done gradually from App 75 > 8 > 9 > 10 even though we directly started using App10.

Needless to say, we had to do a thorough testing initially in the test environment, fix the identified errors, then made a call for the go live on production, did it and did the test flows again. We paid special attention to the App10 UPD5 release notes to identify if the business uses that were mentioned there (if we were using them at all) Prior to that, we received from IFS a list of affected customizations. No customizations were removed after the upgrade though. We had tested them on the test environment beforehand.

Also we made use of the ‘Update Analyzer’ @Sangeetha Jayamaha mentioned above when going from App10 UPD5 to UPD11 only. Is the Update Analyzer intended for upgrades too? I didn’t know that.

@EnzoFerrari  , @ANMASL When we upgrade from APP75 to APP10, it’s done in a way that it includes all the changes in the middle so there will be no gaps in the functionality etc. Therefore it includes all the changes done on APP8 , APP9 and App10. That is done using special tools developed for this purpose so we don’t have to handle the upgrades one by one, but depending on the level of complexity of the customizations, there can be manual work.

Also regarding the UPD Analyzer, yes now the UPD analyzer is enhanced so that it is capable of doing the cross track analysis from APP9 onwards.

Eg: It can analyze a customer solution in APP9 track with APP10.

@ANMASL , @EnzoFerrari  Here is a help documentation on Cross Track Analysis.

Hope you have access.
