Hi @sharveshwar2004,

You might find the following definition helpful.

Business Drivers

IFS Product Development has invested in this way of delivering software updates on a supported track of IFS Applications and IFS Field Service Management to:

  • Reduce the cost for applying fixes, for IFS as well as for customers
  • Increase the customer's experienced quality of IFS Products
  • Make usage of extensions and localizations easier

Definition

An update is a cumulative set of fixes and improvements for the core version, delivered by IFS Product Development.

Updates are a key element of how IFS is supporting customers in being proactive about delivering a quality experience to their organizations. Regular application of updates assures the highest quality product and also provides access to improvements.

Updates are the main delivery model in support of IFS Applications 9 & 10, IFS Field Service Management 5.7 and versions onwards.

Updates are designed for easy application and minimum impact on existing installations and processes. Updates may contain significant new capabilities (as they have minimal impact on existing installations and business processes) whereas changes to existing capabilities are done restrictively and documented clearly

For software components based on non-standard IFS technology or third party products, the way updates are applied might differ and is often adapted to those products.

Each update goes through a quality assurance process in IFS Product Development of content as well as any special application considerations.

The update delivery model will be used for core releases and Product Development supported localizations and product extensions. Localizations and extensions are developed on a specific update version of the core release.

User documentation and translations are included in the updates.

Product specific information

  • Updates for IFS Applications are based on the Layered Application Architecture (LAA) concept that was introduced in IFS Applications 9.
  • Updates to IFS Applications 9  will be made available on quarterly basis.
  • Updates to IFS Applications 10 will be made available on quarterly basis.
  • Updates to IFS Applications 10 will include rollout of IFS Aurena user experience for additional solutions, to be used in parallel with IFS Enterprise Explorer.

Hope this helps!
