The drawbacks limiting us from using Aurena

We have very recently installed Apps10 UPD10 and in the testing phase. We are very keen on moving to Aurena client. However there are a few limitations in the configurations that prevent us from doing so when it comes to some of our crucial processes.

We understand that Aurena is a different platform so although we have configured and grown accustomed to a certain flow in IEE,  that may not necessarily be the best way to handle something in Aurena. We are open to new ways of doing things, as long as we are able to perform things and access business critical information easily and efficiently.

So I thought it would be good to share the limitations we are experiencing (the ones where I could not see any workarounds or other ways of doing them in Aurena), with the hope that, this will serve as constructive feedback to IFS, hopefully catalyst to enhancements  and also other customers/partners who have faced and handled similar issues can share their thoughts and ideas.

  1. Custom Menus:
  • RMB to Business Reports

There are instances where from a particular page, the user wants to run a business report (similar to how a quick report is run from a page with certain parameter values sent from the page etc.). This is not possible in Aurena while it has been possible in IEE and we have used this functionality quite intensively.

  • Menu option with SQL blocks

In order to reduce the number of clicks and the extensive number of steps in a functional flow, custom menus that execute SQL blocks have been extremely useful. This was an easy way for customers to make functional flows simpler without requiring customizations by IFS. For example, we use this to create the project and its structure straight from the sales contract passing most of the values from the sales contract itself saving so much time and effort for the user otherwise having to enter the same information and create a project and its structure from the scratch. With this feature not available in Aurena, the number of steps in a functional flow is now increased and not as simple as it used to be for our users.

  1. Navigator
  • Option to navigate to a Quick Report

Quick reports that didn’t require parameter values to be sent from a specific page, were able to be easily accessed through the navigator. With this not available in Aurena, we are unable to have any of our simple, yet important quick reports accessed. The biggest issue is that in Aurena, there is no page that shows the list of quick reports available to the user either (this was available in IEE). Also, it ss not possible to view them in the Order Report page.

This is not meant as a reply, just a link to another discussion about this:

Similar to @Mathias Dahl addition, not a reply on this topic, adding a link to a new similar topic I’ve started.
