Our several customers use Oracle SE2 in IFS Cloud.
However the IFS Cloud 25R1 Deprecated Features Log announced that SE2 support will become deprecated starting with 25R2 on September 2, 2025, and EE will be mandatory.

Upon confirmation with IFS, we found that if SE2 remains unchanged, updating to 25R2 will result in compilation errors, and the update cannot proceed unless EE is used.

After explaining this to our customers, there has been significant backlash.

Being told this now makes it impossible to respond in time,
but couldn't such an important announcement have been made a bit earlier?
And are there any other customers experiencing difficulties?

We got similar questions from our customers - what exact (mandatory) functionality is used in 25R2 that does not exists in Oracle Standard Edition 2?
I was not able to find answers in IFS documentations.

It would be very interesting which features need EE. Also found nothing.

I checked the change logs for the new 25R2 Release, but I was not able to identify the feature which needs Oracle EE.
I fear we have to wait for the delivery and find out the hard way :( .

I can confirm that it is not possible to update to 25R2 using Oracle Standard Edition being hosted in a cloud based service.. But I believe hosting ‘Oracle Standard Edition’ on a ‘on Prem’ Solution is fine..

Same here. I reviewed the 25R2 deprecation logs, but the information was actually mentioned in the 25R1 deprecation logs. Lesson learned.

What did you do after that? Did you move to EE?

We are on prem and will change to EE. We have no indication that IFS will still run on SE2 as we have no indication which feature needs EE.
So we try to stay on the safe and expensive side.

@JamesW72, I can confirm, we are on prem and it is not possible. The release will fail with compilation errors.
