1. Does IFS cloud version work on OCI. We would like to move our current infra from ###### data center to OCI. This includes all databases along with the current VMWare VM's. Please note that on OCI we can use only Oracle VM.

2. Since IFS cloud uses Kubernetes for Middle Tier Server will it wok on OCI? Or should we look at a multi-cloud option where the databases are hosted on Oracle Exadata or Exascale within an Azure datacenter and other VMs are under VMware on Azure.

3. Is IFS cloud application certified to work with Oracle autonomous databases.

1: A Remote installation of IFS Cloud will work in OCI
2: OKE (Oracles k8s will not work), install a Remote deployed k8s from IFS.
Warning - Oracle OCI’s Ubuntu VMs comes with some veird network security settings - make sure you      use a vanilla Ubuntu ISO images (as stated in TechDoc).
3: No - We have evaluated it, but Oracle autonomous databases comes with too many limitations.

Hello hhanse,

Thank you for the update.

Cloud you please tell me about the question no 2?
2. Since IFS cloud uses Kubernetes for Middle Tier Server will it wok on OCI?

Or

should we look at a multi-cloud option where the databases are hosted on Oracle Exadata or Exascale within an Azure datacenter and other VMs are under VMware on Azure.

================================================================================

We are planning to upgrade our existing IFS Applications 10 environment to IFS Cloud 26R1 azure cloud and would appreciate guidance on infrastructure sizing and architecture recommendations, every thing which we have to consider.

Current Environment

Production Site

We currently have a 3-node Oracle RAC cluster hosting three separate production databases:

Database 1

  • RAC Node1, Node2, Node3
  • Dedicated IFS Apps 10 application server

Database 2

  • RAC Node1, Node2, Node3
  • Dedicated IFS Apps 10 application server

Database 3

  • RAC Node1, Node2, Node3
  • Dedicated IFS Apps 10 application server

Application Cluster

  • 1 Master Node
  • 2 Child Nodes

Load Balancer

  • External Load Balancer

Disaster Recovery Environment

Near DR

  • Single Instance Oracle ASM Database
  • Application Server

Far DR

  • Single Instance Oracle ASM Database
  • Application Server

User Base

  • Approximately 1,000 users

Request

We would like recommendations for:

  1. Hardware sizing for IFS Cloud 26R1.
  2. Recommended number of:
    • Database servers with RAM and CPUs,
    • Kubernetes/OpenShift nodes (if applicable)
    • Application servers
    • Load balancers
  3. CPU and RAM sizing per server.
  4. Whether the current 3-node RAC architecture should be retained or redesigned.
  5. Best practices for Near DR and Far DR sizing for IFS Cloud.
  6. Any sizing reference for an environment with approximately 1,000 users and three production databases.

Additionally, if anyone has recently completed an IFS Apps 10 to IFS Cloud 26R1 migration with a similar user count and RAC setup, we would appreciate any lessons learned or architecture recommendations.

Thank you in advance for your guidance.

Best Regards,
Sashikant Dube

I thought i did answer #2

2: OKE (https://www.oracle.com/cloud/cloud-native/kubernetes-engine/) (Oracles own k8s will not work), install a Remote deployed k8s from IFS in OCI https://docs.ifs.com/techdocs/26r2/070_remote_deploy/010_installing_fresh_system/030_preparing_server/40_middletier_server/.

Warning - Oracle OCI’s Ubuntu VMs comes with some veird network security settings - make sure you      use a vanilla Ubuntu ISO image.

...i will not size or architect your system…
