Hi all,

We are exploring the use of Oracle Edition-Based Redefinition (EBR) in our environment to support zero-downtime database changes during upgrades and deployments.

I would like to understand if EBR is supported or recommended in IFS Cloud environments, particularly in scenarios involving customization or extension of database objects (e.g., projections, custom fields, or PL/SQL logic).

Specifically:

  • Does IFS Cloud officially support or restrict the use of EBR?

  • Are there any known limitations or risks when enabling editions on schemas used by IFS?

  • Has anyone successfully implemented EBR in an IFS environment (Apps 10 or IFS Cloud), and what was your experience?

  • Are there recommended best practices for handling database changes without downtime in IFS, if EBR is not applicable?

Any guidance or real-world experience would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
