We have reviewed the material in IFS Cloud Customer Enablement Lunch and Learn and understand that IFS Cloud releases may be supported for up to two years.
With 26R2 releasing on 15 Oct, can anyone please clarify the following questions:
1. What is the official end-of-support date for IFS Cloud 26R1?
IFS Cloud 26R1 reached General Availability on 28 May 2026. Per the IFS Cloud lifecycle commitment communicated in the Lunch and Learn, releases are supported for up to two years from GA. On that basis the support window for 26R1 would run to approximately May 2028
2. Does 26R1 remain fully supported until completion of its two-year support period, and if so, what is the exact expiry date?
Yes. 26R1 remains a fully supported release for its entire support window. The IFS Cloud Product Info home page currently lists 26R1, 25R2, 25R1, and 24R2 as Supported Releases, and 26R1 is actively receiving Service Updates (SU5 was scheduled for 15 October 2026). Customers on 26R1 continue to receive fixes, security updates, and SUs throughout that period.
3. When would customers on 26R1 be required to mandatory upgrade?
We want to reassure customers that moving to a new release is not an immediate obligation the moment a subsequent release becomes available. IFS Cloud 26R1 remains a fully supported release, and customers can continue on it with confidence, receiving Service Updates, fixes, and full product support for the duration of the two-year support window from its General Availability date of 28 May 2026. When the support window does approach its end, IFS will proactively communicate timelines, giving customers ample opportunity to plan and execute an upgrade at a time that suits their business.
4. Can customers remain on 26R1 until:
Yes, within the supported period. Based on the current release cadence (two releases per year) and the two-year support window:
| Milestone | Estimated timing | 26R1 still supported? |
|---|
| 26R2 GA | November 2026 | Yes |
| 27R1 GA | ~May/June 2027 | Yes |
| 27R2 GA | ~October/November 2027 | Yes |
| 28R1 GA | ~May/June 2028 | Approaching end of support |
| 28R2 GA | ~October/November 2028 | 26R1 outside support window |
So customers can remain on 26R1 through 27R2 and likely into the early 28Rx cycle, provided they stay within the two-year support window. They would need to plan their upgrade before the 26R1 end-of-support date and should not wait until after support ends.
The specific release milestone that serves as the latest sensible on-ramp for a 26R1 upgrade is not a single mandated release number - it depends on when the customer can plan and execute the upgrade within the support window.
Recommended guidance to include: Customers should plan their upgrade project early enough to complete it comfortably before the 26R1 end-of-support date. IFS recommends upgrading to the latest supported release or at minimum to a release with a full support window remaining. For SaaS-hosted customers, IFS will coordinate the timeline.
