Handling inventory items that have expiry

Has anyone got a process set up to handle inventory items that have an expiry date?  Astea does have settings to be able to set product life in the storage section of the logistics section but given that you will have different batches arriving at different times for the same Product number, each batch having different expiry dates, this needs a fairly complicated process to handle that.

If anyone is already handling this situation, I would like to hear how you manage it, thanks

No responses unfortunately.  In fact we finally paid for a consultant to discuss options, best being to the “Automatic Multi-Bins alllocation (FIFO)” setting in logistics Settings.  You can arrange that each shipment goes into whatever bin and Astea will always use the items in the oldest bins first.  Nice but needs extra bins to handle it of course.
