How can we integrate GIS system GE Small World with IFS Cloud?

I'm facing the same problem with a prospect in Latin America, does anyone know if it's possible even through customization?

Firstly, we need to define what we mean with "integrate". Integrating another GIS, like we did with Esri inside the GIS Map screen, is not easy to do in a customization, perhaps it's not even possible to do in the "Cust" layer. If it is possible, when, then it's like doing GIS Map all over again, perhaps simpler.

If "integrate" means something else, let's define that first, okay? It could mean integrating data, syncing data between systems, right? It could mean to have a way to navigate between the two systems as well.

Hello Mathias, thanks for the quick answer. I would say that the integration would be to retrieve the data stored in Smallworld and have it plotted on IFS Cloud, similar to the integration with Esri. Smallworld would be the provider of the information and the modifications made to it would already be plotted on IFS Cloud automatically. From what you have already said, it would be very difficult or perhaps impossible to do, but if we think about creating a new GIS Map connecting with Smallworld, would that be feasible, even if it involves major customizations for the client? I'm sorry for the amount of questions.

R&D could pull that off, of course, like we did the current GIS Map. If a customer, with or without help, could develop it as a customization I cannot say. If it were a normal page I would have said yes, but it's not a normal page. The page itself is very light, from an "IFS code" perspective, and the main code lives in something called an Aurena, or IFS Cloud plugin. I actually started documenting that the other day, have a look here:

https://ifsdev.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ASMAN/pages/1729691752/Debugging+and+fixing+GIS+Map+problems

Let me know if you can access that documentation.

The problem is not only writing the code, it's hosting the code, something we figured out, but I'm not sure if you would have the same options as we do. Maybe, maybe not. That's something you could investigate of course, before you answer the customer if it can be done or not.

Even modifying the current GIS Map might not be possible, because the code lives inside a kind of binary files (a .war file), which is under tight control of R&D.

So, yeah, it's complicated.

Is it GIS Map, and all that it does, that the customer wants, but with another GIS? That is, to be able to navigate to it, and from it to IFS screens? On option is of course to make a map "outside" IFS and arrange for the navigation to happen. That's probably also possible and MUCH easier to get going with.

Thanks for all the info Mathias. I'll investigate this a little more deep.
