When calculating items costs in the background, item costs are calculated only for the structure alternative * and routings *. Is it possible to set all other alternatives to be calculated as well?

You can navigate to Part Costs window and select all structure and routing alternatives related to the part, then RMB- Cost Calculation- Calculate Cost for Selected Parts. From this method you can calculate the costs related to all alternatives.
