Hi,

For a customer on-prem installation. Is it possible to implement the IFS Kubernetes cluster with the Docker containers in a customer cluster?

ie. This mean not using the pre-defined IFS Kubernetes cluster.

  1. Is this a possible solution?
  2. Do IFS Support this implementation method?

Best Regards,

Wasana

I believe you are asking about the AirGap solution for IFS Cloud. Please correct me if I'm wrong. You can install and deploy Docker containers in a local repository within the customer's VM and then proceed with the IFS Cloud environment installation. However, each installation requires a dedicated environment for local repository. This setup is somewhat complex and is commonly used by defense and Oil & Gas customers.  please let me know if you have any questions?

I believe this question is not about the Air Gapped, but about skipping the VM and running IFS Cloud on a Kubernetes cluster directly.

This type of queries have started to appear.

While there should be no technical obstacle for this, this is not something that IFS has announced to be available commercially, nor supported - it is either the IFS-hosted managed cloud or the Remote Deployment using the VM.

It might be a good idea to make an idea and/or a ticket to push R&D into publishing a directly-on-Kubernetes-on-prem licensing model if that is required.

According to the IFS Cloud documentation, the remote module is supported only with MicroK8s, and you can add multiple nodes if needed. However, I believe what you are asking for is not supported. There is no mechanism to add IFS Cloud namespaces to an existing MicroK8s or Kubeadm cluster. When creating an IFS Cloud environment, the installation script handles the deployment.
