smart dispatch console "gps available" icon display condition

In the dispatch console in the Astea browser 

you have the gps icon which is displayed when there is some gsp data available for the tech. The customer is asking what are the rules to display this icon. We know that the tech should be cloked in, but if the gpsdata are the sameday in the past and there is no data at present the icon should be displayed also ? Is there a kind of real time refresh of this icon or the system is looking at each x minutes the gpsdata table to find records and display this icon on the screen ?

Looking through the Dispatch Console Users Guide.pdf, I see the following:

 

As this icon is used to display the GPS locations for the service agent, I believe it relies on what the DC pulls from the GPS data based on the rules defined in the screen shot above.
