Configured Parts

Good Morning,

Looking for some information relating to configured parts. Especially around unconfigured Customer Order Lines.

If I create a customer order line for a configured part(supply SO), however I haven't configured this yet, how does the planning aspects see the components?

CO header is still planned.

Thanks,

Jamie

It isn’t possible to see the components.  The components don’t exist until the configuration is complete, that is what sets the BOM.

If it is unconfigured, the number of parts needed is all of the parts from all of the possible assemblies - which isn’t valid - so the visibility is nothing.

Thanks @ShawnBerk.

I was carrying out some testing around this yesterday, especially around sourcing configured parts from inventory.

If I select an existing configuration, however no stock exists MRP creates supply for each component in the configuration structure, is this expected? I’m fairly new to configurations, however I would expect to only procure the components that were required for the configuration selected?
