Hello IFS Community,
Please note: The personal details used in this post are fictitious and intended solely for testing and demonstration purposes
We are having a problem with the organization chart. The supervisor information of some employees does not appear on the chart. We would like to explain this situation with an example:
Rohan Patel, registration number 2025019, works in the “Manager” position. According to the position structure, the next level above this position is “Coordinator”. However, there is no employee assigned to the “Coordinator” position in the 230 Painting Operations department where Rohan Patel works. Therefore, Rohan Patel's supervisor appears as vacant on the chart.
However, our expectation is that if there is no one working directly above the position, the supervisor should be determined by going up to the next level. In this case, we expect that Anjali Patel, whose registration number is 2025007, who works in the position of Deputy General Manager, which is the upper level of the Coordinator position, appears as Rohan Patel's supervisor.
This behavior works correctly in other departments. For example, in the 310 Welding Planning department, Rohan Reddy, ID 2025024, is in the position of “Assistant Specialist” and Sana Patel, ID 2025023, who is in the position of “Supervisor”, which is a higher position, is correctly shown as the supervisor.
Request:
If there is no designated employee directly above an employee's position, the system should continue up the hierarchy until it finds a designated employee, and then the first available employee should be designated as the supervisor.
Note For detailed examination of the subject matter, please find attached graphical department structure, position structure, position levels, employee assignments and organization chart files.
Best Regards
