Hello,

PO is created from work order. when i cancel the PO , PR status is still in closed status instead of Released status.

This behavior is only observed in PO created from work order.

What steps i can follow here, in order to covert PR to released status from Closed status.

Kindly help me with this. Thanks in advance

Regards,

Kruthika

Hi @kruthika ,

Hi,

This behavior is expected in IFS Cloud when PR is generated from a Work Order.

Why PR stays Closed after cancelling PO

When PR is created from a Work Order demand, the flow is:

Work Order → Purchase Requisition → Purchase Order

 Once PO is created:

  • PR is marked as Closed
  • Because demand is considered fulfilled

 When you cancel the PO

  • PO is cancelled ✅
  • But:

The system does NOT automatically reopen PR

 Reason:

  • Demand is still controlled by:
    • Work Order
  • PR is treated as:
    • historical document, not active demand

 Key Concept

In Work Order-driven procurement, PR is not the master demand object

The Work Order demand is the driver
PR is just a generated step

 How to Fix / Handle

Option 1: Recreate Demand from Work Order (Recommended)

Go to:

Work Order → Material / Procurement tab

  • Remove existing supply
  • Re-trigger:
    • Purchase demand

 System will:

  • Create new PR
  • Status = Released

Option 2: Manually create new PR

If needed:

  • Create new PR manually
  • Link to Work Order

Option 3: Reopen PR (Not Recommended / Not Standard)

  • PR reopen is generally:
    • Not allowed
    • Not consistent with system logic

 Especially for:

  • WO-generated PR

 Best Practice

✔️ Always handle from Work Order side
✔️ Let system regenerate PR

 Important Note

This differs from:

  • Standard PR → PO flow

 In that case:

  • PR may reopen

But for:

  • Work Order-driven PR
👉 PR lifecycle is controlled differently
