We have part numbers that contain symbols like + but when we scan the barcodes IFS does not recognize the + so is this a set up or IFS incapable?

+4I know about barcodes more than IFs, but what is generating and reading the barcode? Barcode readers can be programed to only recognize letters and numbers or either. If you are using EAN, UPC or ITF codes (or a couple more), they don’t allow symbols. If you generate the label with your part number using a printing program like Dymo, does your reader read the “+” symbol? I know when we were developing our system “BarTender” was suggested as an add on program to generate labels. Not sure what is native in IFs.
+6Take a look in the Solution Manager/System Parameters and look for the line in category “User Settings” where characters which should not appear in Key Fields is defined. You will see the default:: & % _ < > = ; ~

Yes, we do have that System Parameter default line set up as you showed but the symbol + is not on that list. Should we NOT have a parameter set at all? Would that help IFS to recognize the + symbol in our part number?
