What is the difference between the part types purchased & purchased (raw) and in what context would each be used?

I think purchased(raw) type parts cannot have a structure and the purchase parts can.
Sometimes when supplier material needs to be sent to the manufacturer, “purchased” typed parts can be defined for the parts that needs to be purchased with a structure consists of the supplier materials.

On top of what Athulya writes, I can also mention a small thing that could be interesting for some of you out there…
If you have huge number of purchased parts AND you never ever going to use purchase structure for them AND you use MRP AND MRP creates a lot of PO Req Lines, THEN you save some execution time if you set them to Purchased (raw). Why? Well then MRP does not even try to explode the PO Req Line supply into component demand.
