New window 'Goods/Services Statistical Codes' in Cloud
In the spreadsheet of IFS Cloud 21R1 a new window ‘Goods/Services Statistical Codes’ is mentioned.
Is there any explanation of this new feature available?
The page help doesn’t find an entry and the field description says something about Brazilian NCM code.

Hi flesabriw,
Short answer:
No, or at least I wasn’t able to find any good documentation on the matter. However, some can be found in the documentation for new releases of IFS Cloud, more specifically within the Country Specific News. I suppose there is also some more in-depth documentation available on country specific matters I’m just not aware of.
Long answer:
The “Goods/Services Statistical Codes” functionality was indeed introduced with IFS Cloud 21R1. It is part of the country specific solutions to meet legal requirements in certain countries, in this case and for the time being (23R1): Brazil, Italy, Hungary and Mexico. Before IFS Cloud, these kind of requirements were handled with Global Extensions, but now they are built into IFS Cloud core solution. Therefore, the functionality is for you to use even if you have no need for it.
The “Goods/Services Statistical Codes” values, according to the product news presentations, can be set on these objects:
Sales Objects
Sales Part
Report Codes Details
Non-Inventory Sales Part
Purchase Part
Sales Charge Type
Package Part
However, in most objects the attributes are only visible if you are handling them for a Company or a Site within a company with the appropriate localization control. This means that the company needs to be defined to use a localization for the functionality, in this case any of the four countries mentioned above, and the functionality needs to be enabled for the country in question. These can be seen in the Localization Control Center tab on Company details.
Regardless of the localization setup, you will see the basic data for it, as you have in the screenshot you provided: even if you have no company with localization defined, the basic data is global and thus always available. You can, of course, e.g. hide it by restrict access to the basic data view with permission sets if you have no use for it. The “Goods/Services Statistical Codes” can be seen on e.g. Customer Order lines and is available as a column in the view, though it is hidden by default. As another example of country specific functionalities, “Acquisition Reason” works the same way.
As for the actual feature “Goods/Services Statistical Codes” in general, the idea simply is to make it possible to provide extra classification information of sales parts when reporting to government authorities. The classification is ultimately listed on Customer Invoice lines and from there available in Invoice messages. E.g. You can set the default value on Sales Part record and thus get it on Customer Order lines and then to Customer Invoices.
While this functionality is meant for the country specific purposes, you can also utilize it for classification purposes in general if you have no country specific requirement. That said, as with any other attribute in the system, do consider that utilizing them for any other purpose than what they are meant for bears the risk that one day you’ll have need to use it for its actual purpose.
