I would expect it to to be possible to deactivate or hide handling unit types that are no longer in use, but that does not seem to be a choice: Anyone know how to do this?

Hi @Termela,

As far as I know In IFS Applications 10, there is no standard functionality to deactivate or hide Handling Unit Types that are no longer in use. The system does not provide an “Inactive” flag, validity period, or configuration option to remove them from the List of Values. Even if a type is no longer operationally used, it will still appear in selection lists. Also a Handling Unit Type can only be deleted if it has never been used in any handling unit and has no references in shipments, inventory records, or transaction history. Once the type is used, it becomes part of the system’s historical and transactional data.

Thanks for the reply. Do you know if this would be something that will be added to the newer versions? I think this should be a standard option to be able to inactivate no longer used Handling Unit types.

Hi @Termela ,

I have checked the functionality in the latest cloud environment - 25R2.

Even in that environment, you cannot hide or block ‘Handling Unit Types’ records.

However, you can hide or block ‘Handling Unit Categories’ (please see below screenshot). At the creation of a ‘Handling Unit Type’, each handling unit type must be connected to a ‘Handling Unit Category’. Therefore, by blocking the category, you can at least ensure new HU types will not be created with the blocked category.

Hope the explanation is clear.

Furthermore, if you still feel the functionality to hide or block Handling Unit Types is essential, you may submit a new idea via https://community.ifs.com/ideas, so that R&D will consider your idea in the future releases.

Regards,
Kethaka
