Hello everyone,

I would like to know what is the best use of the “Product family” field.

The IFS standard description tells us that it is used “to group parts into product structures”. Does this mean that if I create a product family “A” that is also a finished item and associate it with this family, I can group all the semi-finished (manufactured) items that make it up?

Also, in the help, they talk about grouping at level 0 in the master production plan. Can you explain this to me in detail?

Thanks in advance

Yes, you could do that way. Basically, product family is a kind of basic data you can organize parts into groups. And also you can use the product family in Demand Planning to group the forecast.

Hello… Just a heads up first, then later I perhaps comment on “to group parts into product structures”.

FYI

This is a bit confusing :-( But that is the way it is.

Product Families in S&OP and Master Scheduling Level 0 is defined through Planning Method O = “Master Schedule Level 0 part”

Cheers,

Mats
