Does anyone have documentation in regards to the IFS Freight Interface for Cloud 21 R1/R2? Does it still exist? Is it still ODBC connections or can we use the Web Apps using REST Api calls?
K thanks for the info. Really appreciate it. I will need to dig into this some to see the current status and what the freight module on our order form means exactly.
We have one company that really uses it at this point. Just with UPS, just for the tracking number (place on the delivery note), and to export the customer address info into UPS Worldship.
If you only need to integrate with UPS and just for the tracking number, I wouldn’t recommend the IFS NA Freight Integration because it would be excessive for the use case. It supports rate shopping, insertion of charges on the Customer Order, AP Freight Accruals and Handling Unit functionality. You would also have to pay a subscription fee to a 3rd party unaffiliated with IFS called Pacejet.
If you don’t envision needing any of these functions in the near/long term and your organization has a technical team that can support integrations, you would be better off just integrating with UPS.
Naturally, I’m not familiar with your business or any of your project particulars, but just my quick opinion based on what you’ve shared.
Hello, we’re headed down a similar path now while upgrading to Cloud. We have a third party vendor that is pulling data via API when a shipment number is entered into their user interface. Upon shipping via the interface, a POST is done to the Apps10: Freight Details and Charges.
In Cloud (25R1), I don’t see where the Freight Transactions table allows for data entry - manual or via API - POST. Has anyone attempted this solution yet?
Our alternative option is to create a custom page similar to Apps10: Freight Details page and record transactions.
Thanks for any guidance that can be provided.
There is an API (FreightTrackChargeService) that can record the tracking number, cost and handling unit (i.e. container info). I believe this data gets written to a conditionally visible tab on the Shipment record called ‘Freight Information’.
