How to use Packing Instruction when receiving a Shop Order through WaDaCo

Hi All,

 

It is possible to connect a packing instruction to a Product Structure so that it will be fetched to a Shop Order when creation. Packing instruction is used in the Receive Shop Order dialog box and parts can be received with automatic packing - nice feature. 

However, the Packing instruction seems NOT supported in the RECEIVE_SHOP_ORDER WaDaCo process. It always asks for a Handling Unit ID when receiving a shop order and there is NO Item field in the WaDaCo configuration to use Packing Instruction as well. This is an important feature to the manufacturing process as  sometimes the products are already packed and received. The users have limited time to receive these packed packed, so that it would be efficeint to use Receive Shop Order with packing instruction using WaDaCo.

Does anybody know the reason of not supporting this?

Hi Asanka,

May be too late for a reply for this. But one suggestion is to pre-create the HU structure in Shop Order before receipt. Many customers receive the finished goods in to the final packaging and sometimes packaging itself is a step in a Shop Order operation. 

You can use Packing instructions to create the Shop Order Handling Unit Structure before the shop order is completed, (with labels pasted on the box as well) so when you use WADACO - RECEIVE_SHOP_ORDER all you have to do is scan and receive !

Hi Yashodha,

Thaks for the input. yes this was solved the way you mentioned above. We have created a custom event to create the Handling unit strcuture with the release of the shop order, so that user doesn’t need to perform any additional steps to create the HU strcuture manually. 

Also my customer has another scearnio to over receive shop orders too ( my customer use backflushing of materials ) In such case we have added another custom event to create more handling units to the structure when the last handling unit is received. By this way system make sure there are handling units exist in the HU structure to be used for WADACO including the over receipt sceanrio as well.
