Hello Community,

I am looking for standard IFS Cloud functionality to support a customer requirement within the shipment process.

The customer would like to perform a container inspection before shipment delivery. Users should complete a questionnaire with approximately 20 inspection points and record the results directly in IFS.

Examples include:

  • Door frame in good condition (Yes/No)
  • Ventilation holes open (Yes/No)
  • Floor humidity (%) (numeric value)
  • Overall condition (Good/Fair/Poor)

The questionnaire contains a mixture of Yes/No answers, numeric values, comments and predefined selections.

I have already reviewed Approval Routing and related approval functionality. However, this appears to be focused on approval decisions (Approve/Reject) and does not seem suitable for capturing structured inspection data such as numeric values, comments or multiple inspection attributes.

As an alternative, the inspection process could be performed in a third-party application, with the completed inspection report attached to the shipment in IFS Cloud. However, the customer's preference is to complete the inspection directly within IFS if suitable standard functionality already exists.

Before considering a customization, I would like to understand whether IFS Cloud offers any standard functionality for this scenario, for example through:

  • Questionnaires
  • Checklists
  • Quality Management Inspections
  • Control Plans
  • Other standard inspection or survey-related functionality

Has anyone implemented a similar process in standard IFS Cloud, particularly in connection with Shipments, Load Consolidation or Shipment Delivery?

Any suggestions, experiences or examples would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much!

Best regards,
Tristan

Hi @Tristan Kroemer,

IFS Cloud and earlier versions as well, have characteristic template feature, which would be a perfect fit for your business scenario.

Characteristic template would need to be pre-defined with different types of attributes with their predefine answers like Yes/No.

Additionally, custom event can also be configured to attach the Characteristic template automatically to the Shipment attachment panel.

Please check and let me know if you need any further assistance.

Hi @Abdul ,

Thanks a lot for your quick response! This looks very promising.

I had not considered this functionality at all and will now set up a small example to test it.

Just one question regarding your suggestion: Am I correct in assuming that you are referring to the Technical Class Template page? I noticed that a Technical Class can be attached directly to a Shipment through the Characteristics panel.

However, I was not able to find a way to attach a Part Characteristic Template to a Shipment. Perhaps I am missing something?

Thank you again for your help.

Best regards,
Tristan

Hi @Tristan Kroemer,

Yes, you are on point. It is Technical Class Template only.
