The full error message is “The customer order is not allowed to be released. Interim orders exist but are in the past or they exist but the capability check has failed. Please run the capability check again.”

The case i’m looking is this:

  1. Create a customer order with a line that has a CTP planned part. Release this order.
You will get a date in “Latest release date” column and also the “Capability check” column is checked.
  2. let time pass so that the current date is passed “Latest release date”.
  3. Credit-block the customer
  4. Reserve the material to the customer order line.
The customer order should be blocked when you reserve the material.
  5. Go to “Blocked info” from the CO and try to release the order; you will get the error message and the customer-order will remain blocked.

There is to me no known way to release the customer order from the credit-block; and the order is now stuck and cannot be delivered and invoiced.

Has anyone hit this issue and know of a workaround? It seems like it should be some way to work around this issue; if not then there is a way to lock a customer order from ever being delivered/invoiced.

I’ve asked a partner with access to a core-environment without modifications to test this as well, and he got the same issue.

1. Re‑run capability check on the CO line

  1. Page: Customer Orders

    • Path: Sales > Customer Orders > Customer Orders.

    • Query and open the affected Customer Order.

  2. On the problematic order line (the CTP‑planned part):

    • Use Actions > Capability Check (or line context menu Capability Check, depending on your layout).

    • In the dialog, select an allowed Reservation and allocation option for this supply code (e.g. Reserve and Allocate or Allocate Only if permitted).

    • Run the check and let it finish.

    • Confirm that:

      • Capability check is still ticked.

      • Latest release date is now in the future or at least recalculated.

If the capability check fails, correct the supply/capacity issues or (if acceptable) change the line so it no longer uses CTP (e.g. different supply code/lead time), then run capability again.

2. Release the order from credit block

  1. Page: Handle Blocked Customer Orders

    • Path: Sales > Credit Control > Handle Blocked Customer Orders (25R2 name; documentation: Release Blocked Customer Orders).

    • Query the blocked customer order (by order no / customer).

  2. Select the order and choose the appropriate action:

    • Release Blocked Order – releases this instance; the order can be re‑blocked by later credit checks.

    • Release from Credit Check – bypasses further credit checks for this order, so it will not be blocked again by credit control.

  3. Confirm that the order status returns to its previous process state (e.g. Released / Reserved) and that you can continue with reservation, picking, and delivery.

3. If the error still appears

  • Try re‑running Capability Check once more on the line and ensure Latest release date is not in the past before going back to Handle Blocked Customer Orders.

  • If both capability and credit release are done exactly as above and the message still prevents release, capture screenshots and log an IFS case referencing the error text and the scenario; this behaviour is already discussed in community threads as a potential defect when CTP + credit block combine.
