A. What is your idea?

1) Classification

  • Opportunity for improvement

2) Brief description

In Customer Consignment Stock scenarios, IFS currently uses the original shipment date when generating collective customer invoices. However, customers may record a Customer Consumption Date that represents the actual transfer of ownership and taxable event. This consumption date is available within the consignment process but is not reflected on the customer invoice or used as the invoice delivery/tax date. This creates challenges for customers who require the actual consumption date to be reported on invoices and electronic tax submissions, particularly in countries where tax regulations are based on the date of consumption rather than the date of shipment.

Requested Enhancement:

  • Add support for using the Customer Consumption Date as the delivery/tax date on customer invoices generated from consignment stock consumption.
  • Make the consumption date available for invoice data, invoice reports, and electronic invoicing integrations.
  • Consider providing this as a configurable option to maintain compatibility with existing customer processes.

B. Context and scope

1) Who is affected?
Customers

2) Frequency

  • Frequently

C. Value and impact

1) What is the business outcome?
Reduces cost or manual effort

  • Enhances user experience
  • Enables new capability
  • Supports compliance or reduces risk

2) Impact scale

 Enterprise-wide

3) Workaround

Current workaround is to manually communicate or document the correct tax/consumption date outside the standard invoice process (for example, through custom invoice text or supplementary documentation). However, this workaround is not sufficient for electronic invoicing scenarios where the invoice data is transmitted directly to tax authorities, and the consumption date cannot be automatically included.

D. Evidence and examples

Users are using Customer Consignment Stock require the actual consumption date to be treated as the delivery/tax date because ownership transfer and tax liability occur when the customer consumes the goods. Testing confirmed that even when a Customer Consumption Date is entered in the Customer Consignment Stock Consumption process, the generated collective customer invoice continues to display and use the original shipment date.

This requirement was raised in relation to tax and e-invoicing compliance, particularly for customers operating in European countries where the consumption date must be reported correctly on invoices and electronic submissions.

Test Steps:

  1. Go to the Customer Order window and create new customer order. Add part line to the order
  2. Now release the order and proceed until Delivered state
  3. Now go to the Customer Consignment Stock Consumption window and check the record. It has updated
  4. add Customer Consumption Date

  1. Even If we report consumption quantity and date at the same time system does not show consumption date as a delivery date on an invoice as well
  2. Now once the consumption is consumed go to the create collective customer invoice window.
  3. There is nowhere consumption date visible as 29.05.2026 – only original shipment date
