Copy and duplicate customer order line

Hi,

What is the difference between “copy customer order line” and “duplicate customer order line” within one customer order? I tried both options and when I copy the line, default info is checked as YES and I have default delivery address. But when I duplicate the line “default info” isn’t checked. But when I copy the line which has “single occurence” checked as YES, than a new line has “default info” which means delivery address is the default one but not the same as in the line from which it was copied. I am trying to find the best solution when it customes to copying the lines with the same delivery address. Thanks in advance for any clarification.

Hi @Ela,

As per the observations I made, the copy function copies the default information from the original Customer Order line (e.g.: Address, Customer Contact, Route etc) to the copied line even some of these information in the original Customer Order lines have been changed from default to other values.

The duplicate function however duplicates the information in the original Customer Order lines as it is to the duplicated line. Even if the original Customer Order line has information which are not default, they will be duplicated to the new line.

Hope this clarified your issue.

Best Regards,

Uvina Jayamaha.

you can copy customer order line and paste it to another customer order, but you can only duplicate Co line for same customer order.

both copy and duplicate functionalities default behaviors, may be overridden by the application code due to some functional requirements. so related to above also there may be changes for default behavior.

Can someone please confirm if changing the address by enabling the single occurrence in the order line will cause the new order line to adopt that address when we duplicate it?

For example, I have this address in the Customer Order Line, and I want to duplicate it to the new line. Is this possible with the standard duplicate function?

In Customer Order Line Address

I tested it, and it seems to not be working.

Hi @Sachini.Rajapakse,

The difference between and Copy and the Duplicate functionality has explained by Seehassara’s reply. Both functionality works like you adding new record to your CO (simply it is triggering Insert action). So, yes, this insertion need to consider and validate some default functional requirements. Default address setting is one of them.

Piyal
