Hello all,

I looked here and I did not find a solution to my problem.

Here is the situation : I have a purchase part with PCS unit but when I received 1.8 PCS out of 4 there is no blocking. Is there any parameter/way to do it please?

thanks

Hi @OmarBM,

Please refer to the screenshot below, Qty Calc Rounding field controls the decimal values for qty received in Inventory Part in Stock.

Though, this will not block the receiving process, but the system will round the qty received. Please explore this option and test your scenarios.

Hi @OmarBM

Check the UOM settings on the specific case “PCS”  .  Is it set to Discrete or Not used. In case of discrete , system will not allow decimals. Only whole units are allowed to be received, issued / stored.

Here are the different UOM types

  • Weight - The type of measurement which is measured by the Units of Measure such as Kilograms(Kg), Milligrams(mg), Grams(g), etc.
  • Volume - The type of measurement which can be used to measure units such as Liters(l), Milliliters(ml), etc.
  • Length - The type of measurement which can be used to measure units such as Meter(m), Foot(ft), etc.
  • Temperature - The type of measurement which can be used to measure units such as Kelvin(K), Degree Celsius(Cel), etc.
  • Density - The type of measurement which can be used to measure units such as Kilogram per liter(kg/l), Pound per cubic foot(lb/ft3), etc.
  • Discrete - This type of measurement is used when measuring objects with the units of measure as Packets, Piece (PCS), etc.
  • Not Used - This type can be used when measuring Time, Pressure, Energy, and many other units that are none of the above. E.g. Pascal (Pa), Hours, etc.

The unit type once entered in the Unit of Measurement cannot be changed in the ISO Code Definition page.

Solution: Create a new UOM as Pcs  or pcs etc , or reuse the correct one, if already available and update the Part master.

Step 1 : Issue all the material to make stock 0 ( credited Accounted to a statistical account till the UOM is updated)

Step 2: Update Part Master ( Part catalog)  with correct UOM

Step 3: Receive the discrete quantity back into stock ( Statistical account now is debited , thus negating the cost of the part in the statistical account)

Step 4: If the Issued qty, and Received qty has any differences, manually adjusted the Inventory costs to ensure proper accounting

Regards
