I have only selected the resource group as a requirement for a work task. However, I cannot see the unassigned task in the My Work screen. As soon as I assign the task to myself, I also see it under my assignments. The ifsapp can also see the unassigned work. Does anyone know what permission or setting my user is missing? (Apps10)

You should be able to see it under Pool Tasks in the Service App whether it’s assigned to RG or not. But make sure when you transfer to mobile, you have defined to send it to the pool.
Then you will see them under Pool Tasks screen:
