IFS Apps has its own security as does AcrGIS. Is it possible to have the IFS user matched to an ArcGIS user so that the security within IFS Apps and the security in ArcGIS is in place and enabled for a user working with GIS?

No, it is not possible to match or map the user concept in IFS with the user concept in Esri/ArcGIS today. If it would be possible to do, technically, and in a secure manner, it is something we could look into.

What we can do in this area is to allow the user to “login” to ArcGIS when the GIS Map is shown, for the layers where this is important (basemaps might not need this login, for example). This means he/she will get the correct access in Esri/ArcGIS.

This is done by forcing the layer to go via the GIS proxy (the layer mapping has a checkbox for that), and by setting up the GIS proxy to allow the user to authenticate via the proxy.

If the customer actually needs this, or if they just think they do, is another question 🙂 I would recommend they try out the primary way we designed for this, by “granting” layers to users via layer groups. Perhaps they would see that it works well for them once they understand how it works.
