Hi everyone,

I'm currently configuring a Maintenance Survey (eForm) in IFS Cloud, to be used through the IFS MWO Service mobile app.

I would like to know if there's any native way to capture the technician's GPS coordinates (latitude and longitude) at the moment they:

  • Fill out a specific field, or

  • Take a photo through the eForm.

I've already enabled GPS permissions for the application and for the user in the Mobile Apps Administration panel.

Is there any method or best practice to store the location automatically in the form responses (via metadata, script, or system field)?
Any official documentation or workaround would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Danilo,

I tried as described in MWO SERVICE DEMYSTIFIED (24R2). You can refer P283 - Show Map Position for Photos captured in MWO.

I did this to extract the location when taking photos.

Let me know if this work for you.

Cheers.

Hi Kasunhp,

Thanks for your reply!

Yes, I'm aware of the "Show Map Position for Photos" feature described on page 283 of MWO Service Demystified (24R2). I've tested it and it works well for photos attached directly to the work task.

However, in my case, the photo is being taken and attached within a Maintenance Survey (eForm) — not to the main task. Unfortunately, the location metadata doesn't seem to be stored or shown in the same way.

My goal is to capture the GPS coordinates when the technician takes a photo inside the eForm, and ideally store those coordinates as part of the survey response.

Is there any known method or workaround to enable location tagging for images inside Maintenance Surveys?

Thanks again for your support!
