The "DARP Summary for Work Order based Service capabilities" states that IFS is planning to deprecate the Work Order (WO) based Service Management processes and capabilities by November 2027.
I would like to check if Service Contracts (Work Order based) exist. Could you please provide the SQL statement to extract the relevant entries?
The version is IFS Cloud 24R1.

If there is a record in the Services tab on the Service Contract page, can we assume that this Service Contract is a Service Contract (Work Order based)?

@Tamotsu thank you for the DARP document.

For your question regarding identifying Service Contracts (WO based) and Request Contracts (Request Based). The database view SC_SERVICE_CONTRACT has a column named “SOURCE_TYPE”. The possible values in this column are either “Service” or “Request”. If the value is “Service” then the row is related to Work Orders.

Regarding the broader migration question — the DARP document advises customers and partners to "engage with IFS or an IFS partner to understand available migration paths, best practices, and timelines." However, as an IFS partner managing multiple customer environments, I have not been able to identify a concrete channel to get this guidance.

@ajnsse  — could you please clarify the following:

  1. Who is the designated IFS contact (role or team) that IFS partners should engage to get migration path guidance for existing customers moving from Work Order based service to Request Management/NGSM?
  2. Is there a partner-facing migration guide or best practice document available today, or is this still being prepared?
  3. What is the expected timeline for IFS to publish formal migration tooling, documentation, or a transition framework ahead of the 27R2 removal?

With 27R1 being the last supported release and customers needing to plan now, we need a clear answer on where to direct migration planning conversations. Appreciate your help in pointing us to the right resource.

If you have access to the application itself. Go to the Service Contracts page and search - then you will see if there are any service contracts available. (If you have the right company and site access)

Thank you for your reply.

I found the Service Contracts page, and the data exists when I searched. Could you please tell me the column and value that confirms "Work Order based"?

Hi,

For IFS Partners you should first go through your partner represenative at IFS. They will point you in the right direction in the Product Organization at IFS for the particular topic. The recommended point of engagement is the Service Management product organization through your normal IFS channels.

At this point in time we have not published any guides relating to migration. At present, there is no dedicated partner-facing migration framework, automated migration tooling, or formal migration guide published for customers transitioning from Work Order–based Service Management to Request Management/NGSM. The DARP currently advises customers and partners to begin planning the transition and to engage with IFS to assess individual requirements and migration considerations.

Work is underway to better understand the different needs for tranistion and migration and to define the required migration approach and supporting materials. This will be communicated going forward.

@AveTonitM
Thank you for your response.
It was very helpful.
I understand that a Service Contract(Work Order based) exists, so I plan to inform the customer.
