I'm trying to add a custom field to the Report In Assistant in the MWO Service App and would appreciate some guidance on the recommended customization approach.

The Report In Assistant is defined in CommonReportIn.fragment and uses the virtual entity:ReportInVirtual, which is exposed through ReportInVirtualSet and imported in ServiceEngApp.projection.

Environment

  • IFS Cloud 25R2 (25.2.5)
  • MWO Service App
  • Report In Assistant

In the Cust layer I have:

  1. Overridden ReportInVirtual
  2. Added a new attribute:

    @Override

    virtual ReportInVirtual {

       attribute CScadaFaultCodeF Text {

          maxlength = 30;

          insertable = [true];

          updatable = [true];

       }

    }

  3. Overriden ReportInGroup and added the field to the UI

    @Override

    group ReportInGroup for ReportInVirtual {

       field CScadaFaultCodeF {

          label = "SCADA Final Fault Code";

          visible = [AllTaskRef.Objtype in("RequestTask")];

       }

    }

The field is displayed correctly in the Report In Assistant and the user can enter a value.

c_scada_fault_code_f is also added as a field in RequestTask entity via Modification.

What I'm trying to do

In CommonReportIn-Cust.plsvc I added custom logic inside the Report In processing and I'm attempting to read the entered value from the virtual entity VRT table:

CommonReportIn-Cust.plsvc, PROCEDURE Report_In___

scada_fault_code_f_ is always NULL, get_rec code is as follows
CURSOR get_rec IS
   SELECT task_seq,
          execution_instance_seq,
          assignment_work_start,
          assignment_work_finish,
          c_scada_fault_code_f
   FROM ${PROJECTION}_report_in_virtual_vrt
   WHERE objkey = key_.objkey;

the view name will resolve to be SERVICE_ENG_APP_REPORT_IN_VIRTUAL_VRT, the newly added attribute’s column does exist there.

Observations

  • The field appears in the assistant UI.
  • Users can enter a value.
  • The column c_scada_fault_code_f exists in SERVICE_ENG_APP_REPORT_IN_VIRTUAL_VRT.
  • CRUD methods for the attribute are generated in Service_Eng_App_Svc.
  • No compilation or deployment errors occur.

However:

scada_fault_code_f_ is always returned as NULL when reading from the VRT table during Report_In___. It appears that the value entered in the assistant never gets persisted into the VRT table before the Report In logic executes.

Any pointers on where this transfer from the assistant state to the VRT record actually happens would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
