It has been noticed in a few setups where there has been performance issues with FSM that turning off the activity feed greatly improves performance. These cases have been where the activity feed is on its default settings as it was not being used.

Is there a more elegant solution to prevent the excessive use of processing by the activity feed than just switching it off. Would it be considered to have the activity feed to require setup as well as being activated to ensure that systems do not end up with these default settings that appear to be resource hungry?

Any other additional information on how the activity feed processes would also be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, this is true. activity feed is a fairly expensive feature in terms of resources as RnD highlights.  It will have a performance impact if enabled. However there has been no alternatives shared for this concern. Maybe would be a good idea to drop a question to RnD to seek for further inputs and future plans on any enhancements they wish to implement to eliminate the performance impact?
