Hi All,

I have recently created some cost buckets for inventory parts relating to different product families. However when testing, I’ve found that one of the cost buckets still has parts in it that relate to the wrong product family. This is doubling up the cost when calculating the standard cost.

I cannot see anywhere how I can remove the part from the cost bucket. I can’t delete the cost bucket and start over, either.

Has anyone experienced this before or does anyone have any suggestions please?

Thank you,

John

Hi John,

When you say that a Part is included within a Cost Bucket, do you mean that it is appearing on the Parts tab of the Cost Bucket, for example:

As a result, when you do a Cost Calculation, the Part Cost screen is showing some costs included within that Cost Bucket? For example:

If I have understood the above correctly,  then the problem is likely to be related to the Cost Template.

In order for a Cost Bucket to be considered when performing a Cost Calculation, it must exist within a Cost Template - for example:

This Cost Template must be associated to the Part, for example:

If the Cost Bucket in question should not be included when calculating the Standard Cost for that Part, there are a couple of options:

  1. Remove the Cost Bucket entirely from the Cost Template. On the Cost Bucket page, it is possible to see which Cost Template contains the Cost Bucket:

Once established, navigate to the Cost Template and remove the Cost Bucket (NOTE: this will remove that Cost Bucket from all Parts which use that Cost Template) :

  1. Alternatively, leave the Cost Bucket in the Cost Template, but change the Cost Template which is associated to the particular Part. This can be done on the Part Cost screen on a part-by-part basis:

This can be done for multiple Parts at once using the “Replace Cost Template Occurences”:

Thanks,
Chris

Hi Chris,

Thank you for getting back to me on this issue. The above information is really helpful.

I have since found that there was a common part shared between different product families which was causing the issue.

Notional parts have been set up to resolve this. The remaining issues have been resolved following your steps above, as some parts were still on the original cost template. I have altered the template at the part level.

Thank you,

John
