Hi all,

It is not possible to fill up existing Handling Units in Stock. Whether from “Receipt” or from “Inventory Parts in Stock”. Do you know why?

Starting position:

I have a Handling Unit in Stock with a Part which have a Part Handling Capacity of 72pcs per Handling Unit.

Now I have already this Part in a Handling Unit in Stock with 56 pcs.

So in my eyes it should possible to fill up this Handling Unit with the same part, because there is still space for 16 pieces (72-56=16).

Regarding the capacity settings
- Part handling unit capacity is correctly maintained
- Inventory part storage requirements is correctly maintained
- Inventory location capacities is correctly maintained
- Handling unit capacity is correctly maintained

but I can't add the same part to the existing handling unit l either in receipt or in inventory parts in stock. So it can't find the existing Handling Unit in Inventory Location?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Probably a bug.

I had the same experience in our 24.2.1 environment. I was trying to add parts to HU 25456, which had available capacity, but the system could not find the HU when I typed in the value 25456 for the Handling Unit ID.

In the Handling Unit ID field dropdown, I performed a ‘Find’. In the filter for Handling Unit I entered ‘25456’ and still nothing was found. I then entered ‘~25456’ (contains 25456) in the filter for Handling Unit ID and the HU was found and I could select it.

Hi @MarcoG,

It seems that your PO receipt is in Arrival location (i.e To Be Received status) and your existing HU that partially filled with the parts is in a Picking location. I think that may be the reason. I tested this issue by adding already received parts to an exsisting partially filled HU. It worked fine.

regards,

Piyal

To clarify, my answer pertained to adding parts to an HU in the Inventory Parts in Stock page.

The principle is that the handling unit can only contain material in the same inventory location so you have to move the material to the same location as the handling unit and then attach. Not sure if y9ou can do move and attach in one go or if you have to do that in two steps?

Hi all

Many thanks for your help and the good answers.

I have now understood that an article can only be added to a Handling Unit in Inventory-Parts-In-Stock within the stock and not directly from the Receipt. if you look at the practice, it would be a laudable optimization if this could be done in the future to have only one and not two process steps.

Further tests have now shown that a Handling Unit can only be replenished if the capacities of parts, inventory locations and handling units are not used together. Because if a handling unit with the dimensions of the inventory location is in the storage bin, it can no longer be refilled.

(We use this at a customer to be able to carry out automated storage using the capacities and in connection with the storage zone.)

So we will therefore perform further investigations here.

I look forward to any further ideas and thank you very much.
