Resource Group Selection in Time Registration

When a person is connected to an resource group and when that resource group is their primary resource group the resource group is fetched correctly in time registration. But I am able to see the other resource groups and able to select other resource groups and saved the record too.

An employee should be only seeing the resource groups only connected to them and not all the resource groups which in the company.

Any solution for above. Our employees work in multiple resource groups and they are tagged in for specific resource groups?

Hi Rasfe,

That would be a modification if you want to limit the LOV

You could also use an event that raises an error, if a ‘not valid’ resource group is used, in that case you can define in the event what a ‘not valid’ Resource group is. Like not connected, or not planned on that activity.

Hi,

The reason you can report time on a different Resource Group than your default one is because you might be working in a different role.

As example, you have one Activity with 10 h Project Management and 100 h Engineering

You have 2 engineers working on it, but the first acts as Project manager, the other as Engineer

Now the first can book his time as Project Manager by changing the default Resource Group.

Result is:

  • You can see the amount of actual time per resource group, which can be input for the ETC for the resource
  • Depending on the setup you have done, you might get 2 different costs per hour on the project

Hope this helps a bit

Regards Erik

@EriLNL

Thank you for the response. Do you have any advice on how we can reflect only the related resource groups for the employee? Currently, the specific employee is allocated to two resource groups. However, when the employee reports time, all available resource groups are shown under 'resources' instead of just the ones allocated to them.

Rasfe

Hello Colleagues.

Here is what I see in version 24R2 (this might have been present in version 10 upd 25 as well, but I cannot verify it right now).

1.When a Person Resource of user is connected to a Maintenance Employee, and this employee has a Default Site specified, the system automatically limits the choice of Person Resource Groups based on this site. If the user does not have a Maintenance Employee setup at all, everything works as expected (without this restriction).

An important clarification: this restriction applies specifically to the user who is creating the time report.

If I understand correctly, the author of this topic wanted this exact functionality. However, this logic creates a problem for a Supervisor or Work Leader. If a Supervisor needs to report time for workers from other sites, but is a Maintenance Employee themselves, they cannot do it easily because of this restriction.

2.The second issue is the limitation of the Person Resource list when selecting by Resource Group on the Time Report tab.

In version 24R2, the list of resources is implicitly filtered by the default site of the Maintenance Employee. This means the selection list shows ONLY those resources in the group whose default site matches the site of the Work Task.

In standard IFS logic, a Maintenance Employee can have multiple maintenance organizations and sites. This multi-site logic works perfectly during work assignment, but it fails during manual time reporting. The main issue is that I could not find any settings or configuration to change this behavior, which is not always convenient.
