Hi,

When we employ contractors that are linked to a PO, the cost of that PO is automatically charged to the related project when the contractor register it's time to that project.

However, we do not seem to have the option, or at least I am not aware of it, to change this behavior. For regular employees, there are several costing options available. For example, the project cost can be based on the resource group cost instead of the employee’s actual cost.

I would like to apply the same setup to contractors. When a contractor is assigned to a resource group, I want the project to be charged based on the resource group cost rather than the direct PO cost.

Is there a way to achieve this?

Thanks!

Any ideas?

Hi @Marc Johnson,

No, in the core product the internal price of a transaction reported by a contractor will always be set to the price on the linked purchase order line, which means this is the cost that will be applied to the project.

While we see there could be a requirement for hiring in contractors to the business and then utilise these on projects using standardised rates, this is not something that is included in the current Project Reporting for Contractors solution. If this is needed, the only short term option that I can see would be to have a CRIM made, but it may also be worth logging it as an idea for potential improvement in some future version.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards,
Johan
