Hi All,

In IFS APP 10 and Oracle database, Am I correct to say:

IFS does not continuously check for changes and new notifications. Instead, it works in a reactive way.

This means:

  • When something happens (like an approval or status change), the system triggers the notification immediately
  • It does not keep checking repeatedly to see if something changed

A simple way to think about it:

  • It works like a doorbell — when pressed, it responds instantly

Not like repeatedly opening the door to check if someone is there.

Many thanks in advance

@ROYIBRAHIM ,

Yes, your understanding is mostly correct.

In IFS Apps 10, notifications are generally event-driven (reactive), meaning they are triggered when specific actions occur (e.g., status changes, approvals, etc.), rather than continuously polling for changes.

However, there are a few nuances:

  • Some notifications rely on background jobs or scheduled tasks, so they may not always be strictly “instant”

  • Depending on the setup (Event Actions, Workflows, Background Jobs), there can be slight delays

So in general:

  • ✔️ Event-driven (reactive) is the primary behavior

  • ⚠️ Not always fully real-time due to background processing

Your doorbell analogy is a good way to explain it 👍

Thanks
