in Maintenance Planning board(MPB), these finite & infinite capacities use in order to calculate capacity of resource/resource group.

Individual resource capacity is calculated based on the maintenance calendar attached on resource. if the maintenance calendar is not provided for capacity calculated MPB is considered resource calendar is same as the maintenance organization calendar. (Note – HR Schedules are not considered for capacity calculation on MPB). other than individual resource capacity in MPB we can define Groups with finite & infinite capacities.

Scheduling Capacity

Scheduling Capacity Basis

Clarification

Finite Capacity

Individual

With this setup, MPB considers resource group capacity is limited to the number of resources inside the resource group.

Infinite Capacity

Group

With this setup, MPB consider resource group capacity infinite

Finite Capacity

Group

With this setup, MPB considers resource group capacity is limited to the number of resources define under Resource capacity on a capacity basis tab.
