Have you completed all of the following steps?
- Set a duration
- Planned the start date on the Work Task
- Planned the finish date on the Work Task
- Added a Resource Demand line
- Ensured the Work Task is at "Released" status or higher
- Ensured the Work Order is "Released"
- Assigned the work to the Resource
- Accepted the work
After completing these steps, the assignment seems to work fine for me.
