Changing the Activity Sequence gives the error "Activity cannot be changed after a requisition is created"
Hello IFS Specialists
One of our project controllers tried to change the activity sequence in the demand line because he had initially created the project supply request in the wrong activity. The requisition is still in the planned state. So in my opinion, he should be able to change the activity in IFS for the requestion as shown [My testing doesn't recreate the error so far] but getting the shown error. He could use a workaround like deleting the requisition and proceed. But I am wondering why this way isn't working.
The screenshot is from an IFS Ref environment t24.1.3]
Thanks, Asela

@Asela Munasinghe The activity Seq can be changed before creating the requisition but after the PR is created (even though it is in Planned status), it cannot be changed.
Did it work differently in your testing?
Hello @Asela Munasinghe, I believe when a user creates a Project demand and converts it to a Project Supply Request (in this case a Purchase Requisition) system doesn’t allow changing the associated “Activity Sequence” even at the “Planned” status of the said PR. Main reason for this is that the “Activity Sequence” gets locked on the PR line level.
See the following example from my testing (conducted on IFS Cloud 23R2 ASU3/FSU12), where I have created a PR from the project demand line highlighted.
When you look at it from the created Purchase Requisition > PR Line > “Activity Sequence” is greyed out and is not an editable field.
Hence, if a user tries to change the “Activity Sequence” from the “Project Materials and Services page system will trigger an error indicating that “Activity Sequence” cannot be changed while there’s a a Purchase requisition in play.
Below screenshot shows the error that I've gotten from my testing where system stopped me from changing the “Activity Sequence” which is the same error that user from your end has encountered.
However, as you ‘ve suggested in your posts, if you attempt to delete the “PR” which is in the “Preliminary” status, you will still run in to an another error that will prevent you from proceeding to delete the PR (see following screenshot). Hence, that is not an option at users disposal if you are trying to change the “Activity Sequence”.
I believe the best course of action here is to select the demand line in “Project Materials and Services” page and click on command “Cancel Project Supply Request” which will essentially get rid of the PR and the block in the system for editing the “Act. Sequence” with it.
After that users can successfully edit the “Activity Sequence” and proceed to create another PR, it is simply an additional ‘click’. See below screen where i have successfully changed the “Activity Sequence” after “Cancelling the Project Supply Request and has the ability to proceed to create another PR off of this.
Hope this helps! :)

Yes @Buddhika Kurera , for me it was possible to change the activity sequence during the PR planned state tusing IFS 24.1.1] . That's why I am a bit surprised here. We even have a work instruction ocreated before me] saying that we should be able to change the activity sequence at this stage. If you have a link from IFS Cloud Docs to support this maybe, I think it should settle things.
Thanks @desilvasachitha for the detailed explanation. I was testing today morning in 24.1.1 and was pretty sure I could change the activity sequence. But I must have been doing something wrong!
