I am looking for recommendations and best practices regarding software version tracking in IFS for manufactured products.
We have a customer who produces devices (radars) where software is an integral part of the delivered product. The challenge is that Engineering often knows that software will be required, but the exact version is not known when the BOM is created. The final software version may only be decided during manufacturing, testing, or shortly before delivery.
I would be interested to hear how other customers handle this scenario and which approach has proven most practical for maintaining software traceability throughout the product lifecycle.
