Today we use the operaton block function to block a number of operations from different shop orders into on operation block. It works.

We now use the to a degree where the shop floor operator operates more than on operation block at a time.

Is there a way to automated the shop floor operator time registrations between the two or more operation block?

Can you elaborate a bit on what you mean with "Is there a way to automated the shop floor operator time registrations between the two or more operation block?”. Maybe you can give a concrete example?

If you as a operator at the shopfloor are handling two different shop order operations, on two different workcenters, IFS can automatic handle to allocate the registered time between the two shop order operations.

If you as a operator handle two different operation blocks on two different workcenters, there is no help  in handling your time allocation. You cannot clock on two operation blocks on two different workcenters, and therefore there is no automatic operator time allocation on the two block orders. So if you want to have correct operator time allocation, there is a manual task at the end.

We have discussed, can we consolidate the two workcenters into one workcenter, but it’s not the same process.

It depends on how you have set the work center to group start the operations.

When all operations in the operation block are selected and started at the same time, the system can split the time using two different methods:

  • In sequence
    • Assuming work is done at one operation at the time
    • The logic splits the total time elapsed from start to stop. So if 3 operations are in the block with the same planned time each will get 1/3 of the total elapsed time.
    • The crew size and resource share = 1 for each operation
  • In Parallel
    • Assuming work is ongoing on all operations simultaneously
    • Each operation received the total time elapsed from start to stop
    • The crew size and resourced share is split between the operation. So if 3 operations are in the operation block with the same planned resource share and crew size each will get 1/3 as the reported resource share and crew size

If you use the In Parallel option it is possible to work on multiple operation blocks at the same time.
