Hi,

We have serialized shop orders (for Lot Size = 1), but one operation may take a few days to complete. With Shop Floor Workbench, we are trying with daily reporting of labour time and quantity. However, the system is not allowing to report a partial quantity reported when it is serialized. Not sure why as we’re not receiving fractional quantities - but merely reporting it so that the system knows the labour time and quantity each day (main objective is so that MSO will adjust the schedule).

How does IFS expect to report daily quantity complete when the operations take days to complete and the part is serialized? TIA

Hi @athasanka,

This error is logically correct, and it should not be allowed to report a partial quantity for a serialized product since, as per the standard system design, business users can receive the shop order quantity that has been reported.

If partial reporting is somehow allowed for a serialized Part, then are there chances that the same serial would be available in stock (Inventory Part in Stock screen) as well as in WIP (Shop Order), which is logically incorrect.

If it is regular business scenario, you should think about a custom field at the Shop Order Operation level where business user can enter qty completed at the end of the day and use standard functionality to report at the operation completion only.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for your response. As I mentioned in my post, the system could have allowed to report fractional quantities but disallow receiving fractional quantities as it is serialized. The system now disallows both - which is why I was enquiring.

Unless you report the qty that you completed and the time you took for that, how else will you let the system know that you are running slower or faster than the estimated?

Ex. SO operation says you should complete 1 pc in 40 hours. With say, 8 hours of work per day, that’s theorertically 0.2 pcs need be completed within 8 hrs. Say the operator is new and they could only do 0.15 pc within 8hrs, the next day’s schedule should take into effect that you operated slowly the previous day. Can you explain how this could be done with using the custom field as you suggested?

Cheers

Hi,

Just picking up on your original post regarding the main objective being so that MSO will adjust the schedule.

Have you tried this setting on the Work Center and then just reporting operation time rather than operation time and quantity?

From what you describe, I think you need to report operation time rather than a partial quantity.

I hope this helps!

I join @athasanka.

We cannot partial receive an outside operation item on an external work center (the setup showed by @Richard Owen is not available for this type of WC) but it is availale on non serialized SO

The goal is not to partial receive the SO but an operation.

TIA
