Serialized part has to be in Serialized structure

Forum|alt.badge.img+16

Community,

below statement:

A serialized part has to connected to a serialized parent part in product structure IFS.

is it correct? my thought it is, if it is not, do we have a way to switch it off?

Thank you.

Hi Ronhu

Today it is possible to connect a Serial Tracked part to a Non-Serial Tracked Parent, you will be informed by a message but you can Proceed,

I think you want to prevent this happening for your customer.

I'm sure you could use a Custom Event Action for this.

Hi Ron;

This combination can occur, so we have allowed it with a Warning, the user can decide whether to Proceed or Not.

@dameenda Thank you for your reply.

You are showing me the product structure, which is manufacturing BOM.

if I am doing in Engineering BOM,  system will block me for the attempt. May I know APP10 can have serialized part to be connected to a non-serialized parent part structure or not? our findings is IFS is not allowed and there is no way to configure it.

Thank you.

@dameenda Thank you.

Hi

Can this be controlled by  setting on the engineering bom?

Seems to be somehow inconsistent behavior between engineering bom and manufacturing product structure ? Why?

@JohannesWittwer I don’t see any control on EBOM.

@dameenda Would you be able to tell us whether there is a switch or not in IFS?
